Kansas Lottery Launches "The Mummy" Instant Game |
| Ticket Coincides With launch of new Universal Studios movie |
ALPHARETTA, Ga. — August 1, 2008 — Kansas Lottery officials announced today that they have launched a new instant game, The Mummy. Licensed through Alchemy 3, the program is a partnership with Universal Studios Theatrical and Consumer Products Divisions. Game tickets feature movie graphics including a visual of leading actor, Brendan Frazer. "We always try to negotiate talent rights for the movie properties that we bring to our lottery customers" said David Schorr, Alchemy3's Chief Executive Officer. "The Mummy has evolved into an incredible franchise and we believe that the investment that Universal Studios has put behind this brand will pay off for the Kansas Lottery" said Schorr. The game was printed by lottery vendor, GTECH Printing. According to Ross Dalton, GTECH Senior Vice President, "In working with the Kansas Lottery, the feeling was that this game theme warranted extra bells and whistles which ultimately make a game pop from the dispenser. In this case, the tickets were printed on foil and topped off with a UV coating. The final product is brilliant". To support the game, Alchemy3 and Universal Studios have provided the lottery with the exclusive premiere of the movie in the Kansas market. Lottery staff, retailers and vendors have been invited to the screening. According to Ed Van Petten, Kansas Lottery Executive Director, "It's the little extras that make a game sell. Anything we can do to get our vendors, sales staff and retailers excited about a game will hopefully assist in making that game sell better. Alchemy3 did an outstanding job executing this game with us ".
